We are also the only film festival to screen films the same weekend in Los Angeles as AFM. This allows you the filmmaker to network with the most talented up and coming filmmakers, actors, writers, and producers in the world at our festival and then travel to AFM and network with the top producers and distributors in the world alongside your newfound compatriots at our festival. How awesome is that!
One trip to LA allows you to spend your morning networking with the best of the best up and coming artists in the world and then spend the rest of your weekend networking and partying with the biggest names in Hollywood at all the events you can attend. In order to make the networking more intimate, our festival is for filmmakers and friends only. Meaning anyone can attend, but it’s really just intended for filmmakers to have the opportunity to network with other filmmakers who are actually getting films made. We think these opportunities are incredibly valuable and the opportunity to build long term relationships with the best of the best filmmakers in the world at the nascent stages of your career will serve you for years to come.

Will your festival make me a star?
No, it will not. We are a film festival, not a talent discovery network. We showcase the best undiscovered filmmakers and screenwriters in the world and create an amazing atmosphere for them to network with one another -plain and simple. Nothing more, nothing less. If you are looking to pay for a talent discovery network there are plenty of options out there. We do not recommend any of them.
Are your judges celebrities or industry pros?
No, they are not. Our winning screenwriter is introduced to 7 industry pros, but our judges are simply experienced readers who love to read and love film.
Who are the organizers and are you famous?
We are filmmakers just like you. I also work in promotions in South Beach Miami, Florida. Hence the name South Beach Cinema. And no, we are not famous. We are filmmakers just like you.
Who receives prizes?
Only our winning screenwriter. Screenwriting finalists and semi-finalists receive recognition only like at most film festivals. Film nominees too receive recognition only like at most festivals. Filmmakers who are designated Official Selections are given laurels and the opportunity to screen their films.
What should I bring?
Just bring a positive attitude and be ready to network with 20 of the most talented people in the world as we screen each other's films.
Do I have to attend?
No, you do not. But if you do not attend, we are not required to showcase your film. The festival is for filmmakers who attend, first and foremost.
Are you affiliated with MLB?
No, as stated multiple times on the site we are not affiliated with Major League Baseball or Softball in any way shape or form.
Are you affiliated with AFM?
No. As previously stated. We are not affiliated with AFM in any way shape or form. We simply host our festival on the same weekend. This makes our festival the perfect place to network with up and coming filmmakers and screenwriters. Following our festival you can drive across town and network with the top independent producers and distributors from around the world. It's a very unique experience.
